Just so you know, I get it. Mornings can be a bit of a whirlwind. The snooze button is tempting, the day’s to-do list is already tugging at your mind, and there’s that urgent, daily morning feeling to find something quick, nutritious, and delicious to jumpstart your day.  So, my friend, this is where the magic of the morning smoothie comes in. 

To help you conquer all and inspire you to revamp your true radiance, I decided to share three of my favourite morning smoothie recipes (minus supplements) to guide you with the right fuel so you can shine on. Here, you can save the deets for later, learn a little about nutrition or take these suggestions to create and customize your own.

Luxury of time? Upgrade your smoothie for a smoothie bowl!

For all you ambitious, health-conscious entrepreneurs, this one’s a game-changer. Think of it as a nutritional powerhouse in a bowl, tailor-made just for you… 

Back when I lived in the city, my favourite on-the-go breakfast was a Superfood Smoothie Bowl. I absolutely loved the ability to customize what I was having with an assortment of toppings (and healthy added boosters).I found it to be such a practical, tasty, but also fun way to ensure that my body was receiving all the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants it really wants AND needs.

If you’re always on the go and feel too rushed to eat between your morning meetings and the noon hour spin class… you might enjoy having something more substantial than just the blended fruit. With a smoothie bowl, you get the nutrition benefits of a shake, but with the added granola base. The muesli is what makes this choice a real powerhouse as it provides the complex carbohydrates, fibre, and essential nutrients, to give you that excess fuel you really need. Equipment

  • 1 blender
  • 1 ice tray
  • 1 bowl
  • 1 chopping board
  • 1 knife

Ingredients

  • 2 medium peaches frozen
  • 1 medium banana frozen
  • ¾ cup natural yogurt substitute dairy-free or plant-based yogurt
  • ½ cup coconut water
  • 1 scoop vanilla flavoued whey protein powder substitute with plant-based protein

Toppings: choose your favourite fruit to garnish generously

  • blueberries
  • raspberries
  • goji berries
  • coconut shavings
  • walnuts
  • chia seeds
  • muesli (granola) substitute gluten-free granola

Instructions

  • Place all measured ingredients into a high-speed blender then mix for 1-2 minutes or until it has become a smooth, even texture.
  • Wash, dry and chop selected fruit to be used as garnish.
  • Measure out desired amount of granola in two separate bowls - recommend utilizing serving size as listed on box.
  • Pour smoothie mixture evenly into both bowls and top with garnish. Serve straight away!

Citrus Green Smoothie

  • 1 Citrus Juicer
  • 1 knife
  • 1 blender

Ingredients

  • 2 cups spinach
  • 1 inch piece of ginger 2.5 cm
  • 2 large grapefruits
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups frozen mango
  • ½ fresh lime
  • 1 large celery stalk
  • 1 apple
  • 2 tbsp hemp seeds

Instructions

  • Squeeze juice from both grapefruits, ½ of lime and pour all contents in blender.
  • Peel then chop ginger.
  • Cut up the apple and celery into large pieces.
  • Place all remaining ingredients into the blender, add the water. Blend on high until smooth.
  • Pour into two glasses, divide evenly. Serve immediately.

Notes

Opt for powder supplements to add-in to this citrus mix first thing in the morning.
